ND 1 student wins star prize as Cliqfest leaves beautiful memories at Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria

The Cliqfest campus tour powered by EasyCliq visited Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic Zaria and left beautiful memories with students and staff of the institution through education and entertainment. Desmond Ola Yusuf, was announced winner of the star prize, a Hyundai i10.The ND 1 student of Civil Engineering emerged after a raffle draw was conducted signaling the highpoint of two days of pulsating excitement for students of the school.

The campus tour was a potpourri of events that included a five a-side football match, a music rap duel, dancing contest and a raffle draw to determine the winner of the star prize and break taking performances from popular artiste such as Terry G (AKA the Akpako master) and the “Alaga Ibile” crooner, Reminisce and Nex2, the second runner-up, in the Etisalat sponsored Nigeria idol season 5.

There was also a highly interactive career session tagged “Seizing Opportunities” anchored by renowned motivational speaker, Niyi Adesanya. The Rector of the school, Prof. Dalhatu Balarabe Yahaya, was full of praise for Etisalat for its commitment to developing Nigerian youths through its bespoke youth-centric programmes.

ANAMBRA STATE GOV.CHIEF WILLIE OBIANO grants 25 prisoners freedom, gives N1m each

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state yesterday granted 25 prisoners freedom and gave each of them N1 million for start up. Governor Obiano granted them freedom as part of activities to celebrate Nigeria's 55th independence.

Photos: 17-year-old boy plunges to death while taking extreme selfie

The 17-year-old Russian school boy who goes by the Instagram name (@drewsssik) fell off from the roof-top of a nine-story building while trying to take an extreme selfie. The extreme selfie is the latest craze among teenagers. According to media reports, the boy climbed the building in Vologda city with a friend to capture a stunning selfie while dangling off the towering structure. He approached the edge in fading light and lowered himself over it with a rope and a smartphone. Unfortunately, the rope suddenly gave way and he fell.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died few hours later. His last Instagram photo shows him hanging on the wall of a building with just one hand before he fell. (above) According to reports, he always ignored friends' warnings. An investigation has been launched into his death

As the October 31st deadline for the Bank Verification Number registration draws nearer, the Central Bank of Nigeria has warned that it will not be extending the deadline for the registration exercise. The apex bank last week said 32 million Nigerians are yet to do their registration.

Jeff Wins MTN Project Fame Season 8.0

After 8 weeks of intense training and breathtaking performances, the battle for the ultimate prize in West Africa’s biggest music talent hunt competition, MTN Project Fame Season 8.0, finally ended with Jeff emerging the winner. With his emergence, 18 year old Jeff has become the youngest winner of the competition since inception.          

Not only did this lucky chap go home with a brand new SUV, 5 million naira and a multi-million naira music contract; he will also be joining the likes of Iyanya, mike, Ayoola, Chidinma, Monica, Olawale and Geoffrey on the MTN Project Fame ‘Hall of fame’!

Jeff was not the only winner of the night. Sultry voiced Pearl, who was voted the 1st runner-up in the competition, went home with a brand new Saloon car and a sum of 3 million naira while Anderson went home with a brand new Saloon car plus 2 million naira as the 2nd runner up. Delta State born Ada walked away with the sum of 2 million naira after emerging the 3rd runner-up. Arewaand Deinde, who were voted 5th and 6th respectively, got N 1 million naira and 500,000 naira.

Unlike previous seasons where contestants performed their original compositions during the grand finale, Season 8.0 came with a twist as each of the contestants collaborated with A-list artistes to produce a remix of the latters’ hit songs. 

 Jeff paired with Yemi Alade to remix her song “Kissing” while Pearl worked with Chidinma to remix her hit song “Kedike”.  Anderson and Praiz did a remix of his song “Rich and Famous”. The Kukere master himself, Iyanya, collaborated with Deinde to remix an entertaining version of “Oreo”.  Arewa and 9ice did a remix of the hit jam “Gongo Aso” while Ada and Sound Sultan did justice to Sound Sultan’s “Motherland” to the delight of the audience!

While the show may have ended on a grand note, music lovers have a chance of relishing the experience as the official release of the amazing collaborations has been fixed for October. The collabos are also available for use as callertunez. Simply send your preferred songs to the code 4100.

Indeed this year’s edition of West Africa’s most consistent music talent hunt show delivered on its promise of maximum entertainment. Suffice it to say that the show has given the young talents a platform to launch their careers and pursue their passion in music. In preparation for the maiden Africa Fashion Week Dubai (AFWD) scheduled to hold between April 22-24, 2015 at the JW Marriot Hotel, Dubai, UK trained Nigerian fashion designer and Creative Director of Tesslo Concepts, Tessy Oliseh-Amaize has unveiled a new collection labeled “The Wolf of High Street”.

In photo images exclusively unveiled to us by the designer, her husband, Ohimai Amaize popularly known as Mr. Fix Nigeria is seen modeling her designs and sporting a Wolf-inspired haircut to match. 

The Africa Fashion Week Dubai has been designed to provide a platform for designers to promote and market their businesses to approximately 250,000 audiences across all our media platforms and 150-200 VIPs that will be coming from The Middle East, Africa and across the globe.

The event will also raise money for the Ebola Fund in Sierra Leone, the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Abuja, Dubai Red Crescent, Richard Solove Research Center at The Ohio State University and Camp Netaim, a camp for children with special needs.
